Thomas Smith
Thomas Smith, Operations Manager for Gas Utility District #1 of East Baton Rouge Parish and Louisiana Gas Association (LGA) Director, received the LGA 2014 Hall of Flame Award presented during LGA’s Annual Operations Conference, October 27-29, 2014, in Baton Rouge, La. Smith is among an elite group of outstanding individuals who have been honored with this award because of their significant contributions to the success of the organization and its membership.
“Thomas Smith has contributed time, resources, and funding to support the LGA 2014 Educational Seminar Programs,” said LGA President, Diana Wilcox. “He has done an outstanding job of leading and hosting all of our 2014 seminars. He has shown that he is committed and dedicated to making the LGA successful.”
Smith was strongly influenced by his father, former LGA board member, Coy Smith. It was Coy that first introduced Smith to the industry at a very young age. Since then, Smith’s passion for the industry has grown stronger. In 1977 he began his career with Gas Utility District #1 of East Baton Rouge Parish and currently serves as their Operations Manager. Smith was first elected to the LGA board of directors in 2010. He currently serves as the Education Committee Chair and in 2014 joined the Annual Operations Conference Committee.
