?The seminar will focus on the basic principles of electricity including the three most basic components of electricity which are voltage, current, and resistance. Knowing basic electrical concepts is important to the work we perform in the natural gas industry.  Voltage is like the pressure that pushes gas through a pipeline. It is measured in volts (V). Current is like the diameter of the pipeline. The wider it is, the more gas will flow through. It is measured in amps (I or A).  Resistance is like debris or fittings in the pipeline that slows down the gas flow. It is measured in ohms (R or Ω). Voltage, current, and resistance are all related. If you change one of them in a circuit, the others will change, too. The seminar will also cover safety aspects of working in and around power lines both underground and overhead.
